Beavers are large, semi-aquatic rodents and are common to all parts of Georgia. They’re best known for their diligent work ethic and their habit of damming creeks. These dams create pools in which they store food, raise their young, and protect them from predators. However, to land owners, these dams kill valuable trees and can flood and/or damage their property or crops.

Did you know that the beaver is the second largest rodent in the world and is a symbol of hard work? When they are hard at work on your land, this may not be so admirable, however!

So, what are the signs that you have a beaver?

  • – A tree stripped of its bark from the ground to about 3ft.
  • – A damned up creek
  • – Small trees and shrubs cut down
  • – Burrows on the bank of a lake/creek

Georgia P.A.W.S will provide a free inspection to look for the location of a beaver on your property and then devise a trapping program to properly remove them.
